A whole month without updates to this journal. A new record!

Last week during my daily run, I happened to look down at something white that caught the corner of my eye. It's pitch black when I'm running - thanks to the sun setting at 5:00 PM - so I can't see very well. As I passed what I thought was a plastic bag or some sort of trash, I saw eyes. It scared the bejesus out of me. I was running mere inches from a opossum. They look crazy. I stopped about six or so feet away and watched the beastie, thinking it would turn its head towards me. It was completely frozen, staring out at the road. For some reason I wanted it to react, but I didn't want to get closer and have it charge me. Like I mentioned, they look like they're insane.

There's a skunk that I used to see daily while running, but I haven't seen him lately. Maybe it's too cold for him now. Mr. Stinky (as I dubbed him) has been seen happily tearing up people's yards looking for grubs, trotting around people's bushes, and daringly crossing streets with his tail held high. When I saw him crossing the street I thought he was an albino squirrel, due to his white tail. When I got closer I saw that it was Mr. Stinky charging across the street to the other side of the sidewalk, luckily away from me. The skunk is cuter than the opossum, but I'll take startling the latter than the former any day.

Other wildlife adventures include: Little John sitting in his cavy cozy (a cloth bag that's flannel lined), having Fireball sit on half of it, and then Little John go nutty while still in the bag. Fireball just sat on his half of the cozy and Little John eventually stopped flailing around and tootled on out to the hay pile.

Since it's the season for giving, my Amazon wish list is up, but those are just suggestions of course. I know I'm olde due the fact I'm asking for kitchen items and books!

Do you still go running at 5 am in this chilly, snowy weather?
